Today we live in a world hanging on to the seat of its pants as we hurdle faster and faster through the most intense period of technological change experienced since the Industrial revolution and soon to be ever.
As a result our current social and political systems are breaking down. Trust in our political leaders, the election process, and the media has hit an all-time low. Local governments have struggled to deliver the services most needed by their communities. Civic engagement and voter turn out numbers have slid lower and lower.
Until now.
Now is the time we come together to bring our democracy into the 21st century.
Now with the ever decreasing costs of computing, the rise of decentralized applications, and the growing mass adoption of information technology, we can build tools to restore faith in our democracy, streamline our local government services, and mobilize informed groups of voters to make their voices heard.
This is our mission: To build a community of dreamers and doers, working together to build the skills and tools needed for an Open Source Democracy.
We are huge fans of open source technologies and the communities built around them. We believe that a true democracy is open sourced in that:
We value Transparency. We value Community. We value Collaboration. We value Ideas.
